The Boston Pizza Yellow Jackets scored five runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat the Dunstone Mortgage Monarchs 9-2 on Tuesday at Norbrock.

Yellow got on the board in the top of the first inning after Sam Avila singled, scoring one run, Cole Taylor singled, scoring two runs, Jeff Friesen grounded out, scoring one run, and Jeff Paz singled, scoring one run.

Yellow added two runs in the second after Luke Simpson doubled to center field.

Yellow scored two runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to right field by Pat Brown on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.

Rollin Sanderson earned the win for Yellow. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one. Tyler Cousineau pitched three innings in relief for Blue. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs while, striking out one and walking one. Rob Lacheur took the loss for Blue. The hurler went two innings, surrendering seven runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking none.

David Wells, Cousineau, Matt Dunstone, and Randy Cichon each collected one hit for Blue. Dunstone and James Felderhof each drove in one run for Blue. Wells paced Blue with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Blue turned two double plays in the game.

Yellow collected 14 hits in the game. Simpson, Taylor, Sanderson, and Paz each collected two hits for Yellow. Simpson, Taylor, and Brown each drove in two runs for Yellow.
